After closing his eponymous label back in 2015, Jonathan Saunders is back! Appointed as the chief creative director at the vivacious New York based label Diane Von FurstenBerg Studio, effective immediately.

At the age of 38, Saunders will be fully in charge of the creative direction of the house, and will have to report to chief executive officer Paolo Riva. Being familiar with the aesthetic of the house, not to mention how vibrant, visually appealing, and artistic his own label was, Saunders is somewhat on familiar grounds – creatively speaking that is.
His first debut collection would be for the Spring/Summer 2017 collection showcased during New York Fashion Week.
“Jonathan’s extraordinary passion for colors and prints, his effortless designs, and his desire to make women feel beautiful make him the perfect creative force to lead DVF into the future,” said Diane von Furstenberg, founder and chairwoman of the company. “I could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer and I cannot wait to watch him shine as our chief creative officer.”
Saunders’ first step into the house of DVF is to fully immerse himself into it – his main objective is to reserve the established values at the brand, from back when it started, until our present day.

Diane and Paolo are both extremely deep thinkers, and they make sure that they comprehend the product that they are developing; from color, detail, to the clientele’s interest. It literally is a nonstop progressing experience, and Saunders, being the creatively analytical person that he is, has no issues with that fact – he’s quite excited about reporting to Paolo, and appreciates how, regardless of her CEO position, aims to understand the product.
So what now? We’ll just have to wait until the commencement of New York Fashion Spring Summer 2017 and keep an eye – At least that’s what I’ll be doing.
